10 Trees Program
Acornhoek,South Africa
A grassroots movement turning homes into minifood forests:
- Over 1,660 food-giving trees planted across 160 households
- Led by 16 tree mentors, many of whom are African women overcoming immense challenges to become leaders in rewilding their communities
- These women aren’t just greening their communities - they’ve also been trained in self-defence, reclaiming a sense of safety, confidence, and agency
