You Read Every Other Label. Why Not the Salt? The Case for Oryx Desert Salt

We have been arguing about salt for fifty years, but only ever about one thing: how much of it we should eat. Doctors warned us off it. Then the science got more complicated, and a generation of health-conscious eaters swung back the other way and started adding a pinch to their water. What almost nobody asks is the other question. Not how much, but what is actually in it, and where it came from.

Consider how much scrutiny everything else on the shelf now receives. Shoppers interrogate seed oils. They check for artificial dyes, count grams of added sugar, ask whether the protein is grass-fed and the produce is certified organic. They photograph ingredient lists in the aisle. Then they reach past all of that for a container of salt and put it in the cart without a second thought, because salt is just salt. Except it is not. And the reason is simple enough to state in a sentence.
