We refuse to keep taking and consuming without consideration for future generations. That’s why we harvest our salt from an ever-replenishing, renewable source in the Kalahari Desert, located within South Africa.
It was discovered beneath a 50km2 salt pan that three underground streams converge and replenish an ancient underground salt aquifer of 55 million tons from which the salt water is deposited into pans under the hot Kalahari sun and sun-dried. This process lives in harmony with the natural rainfall and the surrounding environment. We only extract what nature provides.
We aim to keep reducing our carbon footprint by paying attention to our packaging and supporting local businesses where ever we can.

Salt is vital for life, but health-giving salt is so much more than just sodium chloride. Our salt is pure, harvested from an unpolluted source in the pristine Kalahari Desert and is unrefined, preserving all its natural essential minerals and micro-nutrients vital for optimal health.
Our 100% recyclable refill boxes are a key element of our strategy to give our customers excellent value for money and is aligned with our REFILL NOT LANDFILL philosophy.
Our grinder heads are high-quality ceramic which means you can refill your glass grinder bottle more than 10 times and still grind coarse salt and peppercorns as efficiently as when it was brand new. By using ceramic instead of plastic grinder heads, you’re also not grinding plastic into your food!
Refilling our grinders and shakers is not only highly cost effective, we’re also encouraging eco-awareness and being savings-savvy. When you refill, you’re paying less than a THIRD of the price of buying a new grinder.
Once you’re finally finished with your glass grinder, it can be recycled. Refill boxes are available for our whole range of salts and pepper.
Our MINI TRAVEL SALT & PEPPER shakers are popular and occupy an important niche in our range.

We’ve also decided not to use lamination, to support our minimalist ‘paper, not plastic’ approach for our shaker product range.
